In 2022, James Bennett delivered AXA’s new Sydney workplace at 255 George Street.

Conceived during the midst of the pandemic, the project presented an opportunity to rethink and reimagine the role of the workplace through flexible, smart design solutions and the implementation of new technology. Warm, natural fi nishes and tones and a curated biophilic design, has created an inspiring and attractive space that will play a vital, ongoing role in facilitating and maintaining working relationships for AXA.

Delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model, the project team were able to work collaboratively during the early design stages to mitigate numerous supply chain and long lead time issues to ensure the project was delivered on time, on budget and to the desired quality.

ONE and RISE represents a new era of amenity and inclusiveness for end-of-trip and wellness facilities within a commercial offi ce tower, through adaptive reuse of underutilised basement carparks at 101 Collins Street.

This benchmark project is industry-defi ning in what commercial landlords are providing to their tenants, that is a daily 5-star experience.

ONE, the end-of-trip component, comprises 44 showers, 500 bicycle parking spaces and 600 lockers. The design references the original highly detailed language of the building, refi ning rather than redefi ning it. The project has been a catalyst for a cultural shift within the community, realizing a 300% increase in female users and the way the tenants start their day.
